It's the weekend queens which means one thing, SELF CARE. It's so important to take care of yourself especially during these difficult times and is crucial to your well-being.


Did you know there's 4 types of self care? Lets discuss them below.

PHYSICAL SELF CARE


Physical self-care is taking care of our bodies which is a large component of self care, but it doesn't have to include a vigorous exercise routine. The key to self-care should be something you enjoy.


Some ideas:

  • Trying a new healthy recipe

  • A workout, yoga or a dance class

  • Going on a mindful walk or a bike ride

  • Taking a warm bath with your fav bath bomb

EMOTIONAL SELF CARE


Emotional self-care is about checking in with yourself, becoming more mindful of your thinking patterns and triggers, and finding ways to work through them, rather than bottling them up inside.


Some ideas:

  • Journalling – writing down our feelings

  • Being creative through painting or writing

  • Replacing the negative with positive self-talk

  • Setting more boundaries – it’s okay to say no

SPIRITUAL SELF CARE


Spiritual self-care nourishes your soul and helps you find inner peace. When you practice spiritual self care, you are striving for inner peace & seeking to find purpose and meaning in life.

  • Meditation and mindfulness

  • Light a candle

  • Spending time in nature

  • Praying

INTELLECTUAL SELF CARE


Intellectual self care is something you enjoy that challenges your mind. It expands your knowledge. This type of self-care can involve figuring out what your current strengths are and developing them further.


Some ideas:

  • Reading a book or listening to a podcast

  • Learning a new language

  • Completing a puzzle

  • Taking a course on something that interests you

  • Watching a documentary on a new topic
